Hello! My name is Lailani Mbandi and I am a 19-year-old Sociology Major with a Minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, attending Spelman College.
I have always been enamored by the power of scents and the way they can transport us to different memories and emotions. At the same time, my unwavering passion for assisting those in need has been a guiding force throughout my life. Combining these two fundamental aspects of my identity, I found the inspiration to establish my very own candle business.
For me, this venture is not solely about generating profit. It's about creating a positive impact on the world around me. My dedication to aiding both our environment and those in need is at the heart of everything I do. At Spelman, they teach us that it is our choice to change the world, and it is my hope that Bougie Essentials is able to leave that mark.
Our commitment to sustainability begins with the selection of our materials. We meticulously source our fragrances, wax, wicks, and packaging from eco-friendly suppliers, ensuring that our products leave the lightest possible footprint on our planet. We recognize the significance of preserving our environment for future generations, and it is our mission to contribute to this cause through responsible business practices.
Moreover, we are proud to announce that a portion of every purchase made at Bougie Essentials goes towards Atlanta Mission's My Sisters House, an overnight shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness. My Sister's House aims to provide a safe and healthy environment in which women and children can recover and grow from past experiences that may have contributed towards their present circumstances and work towards healthy relationships with God, themselves, and others, as well as sustainable income and housing. By contributing 5% of the proceeds of every sale, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
